Description: The Working Group has prepared this Project Status Report to synthesize all information developed since the beginning of the Stakeholder Planning Process in June 2001. This Report includes results from the numerous focus group meetings, recommendations for project design principles and criteria, and preliminary flood protection project options evaluated against the design principles advanced by the Working Group and considered in past stakeholder and focus group meetings.

At this point in the process, the goal is to narrow down the project options at the concept level to those that involve a combination of flood protection elements that maximize the possibility for community consensus. Due to the diversity of interests and stakeholders on the Pajaro River, some level of community consensus is essential to ensuring that a flood protection project is built. The limited project options that do present some potential for a level of community agreement will be further analyzed and studied in detail as a part of the Corps of Engineers General Reevaluation Report (GRR) and Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) process.
